Paul Pignone, 83, of Mishawaka, entered into heavenly rest Friday evening, September 29, 2023, surrounded by his family. Paul was born in Mazara Del Valo, Sicily on August 23, 1940, to the late Rocco and Jacqueline (Sciarrino) Pignone and moved to Indiana when he was 15. It was there that he met the love of his life, Mary L. Fotia, at her family’s supermarket across the street where he bought his lunch almost every day. They were married in 1962 at St. Monica’s Catholic church and had three children.
Mary survives, along with Paul G. (Michelle) Pignone of Midland, MI, Theresa (Jerry) Manis of Osceola, and Maryann (Tim) Davis of Carmel and their six grandchildren; Megan and Nicholas Pignone, Amanda (Nathan) Farris, Matthew Manis, and Allison and Isabella Davis; and three great grandchildren, Jordyn Manis, and Colton and Madison Farris. Paul is also survived by his sister and brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Paul worked for 45 years in the RV Industry, working his way up the ladder from manufacturing to sales management with Yellowstone, Inc. He was a member of the American-Italian Association and the Di Loreto Club in Mishawaka. Outside of his associations and work he loved spending time with family! He was a talented artist and wood craftsman, building and repairing furniture; he loved camping, fishing, golfing, gardening and being outside with his kids and grandkids. He loved traveling, new adventures, and especially loved visiting his homeland of Italy.
A time for family and friends to pay their respects is scheduled for Monday, October 2, 2023, from 4-8pm at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Monica’s at 11 am, on October 3, 2023, with an hour of visitation prior to the Mass. Fr. Jason Freiburger officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Fairview Cemetery.
