Patricia Marie DeMeester

Patricia Marie DeMeester, 93 passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Healthwin Specialized Care, South Bend, IN. Patricia was born on July 17, 1930 in Mishawaka, IN to Cyril and Bertha (VanDael) DeMeester. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. DeMeester, and a sister, Lois Leyes of Mishawaka.

Patricia grew up in Mishawaka, IN and on February 3, 1951 she married Edward C. DeMeester. Patricia was a homemaker raising four daughters. She then worked at the West End Bakery in Mishawaka for 30 years.

During her retirement, she was an active member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, the oldest Catholic parish in Mishawaka, under the guidance of Father Yast, and went on many church trips to various Holy pilgrimages, including Fatima, and to attend Church services with the Pope in Saint Peter’s square. She was an avid Notre Dame football fan and rode her bike to Notre Dame campus every day.

Surviving are her daughters Debra Susan (Chris) Blume of Mishawaka; Kimberly Ann (Randy) Conner of Elkhart; Tammy Marie (Jim) Williams-Pawles of South Bend; Patti Kaye (David) Leniski of Mishawaka. A brother John DeMeester of South Bend; three grandchildren; Patricia Lee Williams of Bangkok, Thailand, Bryan David Leniski of Westfield, Indiana; Alicia Rae Leniski of Mishawaka, Indiana, along with 3 great-grandchildren.

Patricia wishes no visitation. A private graveside service and burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka with Father Chris Lapp officiating, at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home in Mishawaka, Indiana. Memorial Contributions may be made to Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka, Indiana.
