Michelle Miller Obituary

Michelle Lynn Miller, age 49 of Granger, was surrounded by her family as she went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2024. Michelle was born May 22, 1974, in LaPorte, Indiana to the late John David and Kathleen Ann (Corish) Sarver.  She was a graduate of Westville High School and played sports throughout her high school career.  On November 18, 2006, she married Eldon Miller in Mishawaka.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Eldon Miller of Granger and her daughter, Katie Kessler of Granger.  Surviving as well are her stepdaughters Cecilia (fiancé Mike Kaufman) Hipskind of Shipshewana, Sheila (Nik) Kantz of Bristol, and Joni (Mark Marner) Miller of Shipshewana, along with her grandchildren Jaylin Miller, Gabbee Kantz, Libbee Kantz, Kaylee Marner, Joe Schaub VI, Rosie Kaufman, Rayne Schaub and River Schaub.  Also surviving are Michelle’s sisters, Tamara (Steve) Fuller of Niles, Michigan, Bobbie (Mark) Flotow of LaPorte, and Heather (Jeff) Nieman of Michigan City, Indiana, along with her in-laws, Lynn (Pauline) Miller, Delbert (Ruth) Miller, Sarah (Albert) Stutzman, Rose Schmidt, Treva (Ron) Brunson, Nelson (Missy) Miller, Cheryl (James) Hope, and Debbie (Ricky) Campbell, her aunt Karen Urbanski, 8 nieces and nephews and numerous extended family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant granddaughter Kensleigh Schaub, her niece Addie Nieman, and her brothers in law, Marvin and Sheldon Miller.

Visitation will be held from 12-3 pm Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home (formerly Goethals and Wells) in Mishawaka.  Following the visitation, a celebration of Michelle’s life will begin at 3:00pm, with Albert Stutzman presiding.  For those unable to attend, Michelle's service will be streamed in real time in the window below beginning at 2:45pm.

Michelle was a woman deeply rooted in her Catholic faith, having been raised and baptized in the tradition. Her upbringing in the Catholic Church instilled values that guided her throughout her life. Michelle's faith in God was a source of comfort and strength during times of both joy and uncertainty alike.

Michelle was employed for several years as an office administrator with Balance Physical Therapy of Granger.  Outside of the office, Michelle's love for adventure led her to find happiness on the sun-kissed shores of Florida, where she enjoyed the beauty of the beach and the peaceful ocean waves. Alongside Eldon and numerous other friends, she enjoyed journeys to no particular destination, sharing laughter and creating memories as they traveled on their Harley Davidson Motorcycle. A devout fan of Notre Dame and country music, Michelle found delight in the simple pleasures of life. She was known for her laughter and her habit of raising a "red solo cup" in celebration with her dear friends.

Michelle's warm and welcoming nature endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her compassionate spirit and "open door" attitude meant that her home was always available to those in need, offering comfort, support, kindness, compassion and unconditional love, however, Michelle's true passion lay in her role as a grandmother. Her love knew no bounds and her grandchildren were her greatest treasures. She selflessly devoted herself to their happiness and well-being and her love and legacy will continue to guide and inspire them throughout their lives.

The Miller family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and staff on the sixth-floor oncology unit at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Your compassionate care and unwavering support during Michelle's time under your care were deeply appreciated. Thank you for your commitment to excellence and for providing comfort and compassion during a challenging time. Your kindness will always be remembered fondly by the Miller family.
