Marsha Ann (Sayers) Johnson

Marsha Ann Johnson, aged 70, passed away March 7, 2023, after a 13-year battle against kidney disease.

Marsha was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Betty Metzinger, and her sister Carol Evory. She is survived by her daughter Jana (Barron) Grabarek, her granddaughter Zahra, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marsha had a passion for music. She played the saxophone in her high school marching band, had a beautiful alto voice, and attended as many concerts and musicals as possible. She taught Jana to harmonize at a very young age, which led to 20 years of shared performance experiences and a lifetime of impromptu duets.

Marsha also loved people. That love inspired both her professional and personal lives. She worked in a variety of sales positions that allowed her to build relationships and make customers feel good about themselves. At the same time, she was wholly devoted to her family, serving as a stay-at-home mom and caretaker for her mother and sister. Marsha also relished being a part of the extended Grabarek family, happily attending their sporting events and special occasions for decades. She, too, was grateful for her friends: the ones she talked to every day; the ones she attended concerts, dined, went dancing and played bingo with; and the ones she was glad to call neighbor. Marsha was someone who brought people together and created memories. Once she loved you, she never let you go.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the American Kidney Foundation, whose generosity helped cover the staggering cost of dialysis, without which Marsha never would have met her grandbaby.
