Daniel Wojciechowski Obituary

Daniel Walter Wojciechowski Jr., age 73 of Mishawaka, passed from his earthly life on Thursday morning, December 14, 2023. He had been brought home with the help of Heartland Hospice on Monday to spend his last days with his wife and family.

Dan was born October 20, 1950, to Geraldine Arpasi and Daniel Walter Wojciechowski, Sr. in South Bend, Indiana on October 20, 1950. He went to St. Stephen’s grade school in South Bend and was a 1969 graduate and star football kicker of LaSalle High School. He also attended and played football at Grand Rapids Junior College. In July of 1970, he married Barbara Kanoff, and they had two children, Jennifer and Daniel. He married Linda DeLaurelle on November 20, 1982 and lovingly became a father to her daughters Lisa and Laurie.

Dan loved his home and family, his children and grandchildren, and all of their sports activities. He also loved spending the past 7 winters in Florida, and he loved Notre Dame! He worked for over 40 years at the family painting business, Dan’s Painting Company, with his father, brother and brother-in-law, son and nephew. He was a long-time member of the South Bend YMCA, where he was an avid handball player. At the age of 31, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and was able to work and continue his lifestyle until he became disabled in 2003. He was able to fight the disease to spend another 20 years with his family.

Dan was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Mishawaka, and coached girl’s basketball for his daughter’s team at St. Joseph Grade School.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel W. Wojciechowski, Sr. and Geraldine Arpasi Chrzanowski, step-father Eugene Chrzanowski, brother Joseph Piech, and brother-in-law Charles “Bill” Lambie. He is survived by his wife, Linda, and children Jennifer Jeanne (Christy) Swope of Warsaw, Daniel Walter III (Kristi) Wojciechowski of Mishawaka, Lisa Michele Troup of Mishawaka, and Laurie Kristine (Jason) Komlanc of Indianapolis, along with eight grandchildren, Dylan Lichkay and Tyler (Hannah) Lichkay, Cole, Luke and Pela Wojciechowski, and Savannah, Holden and Hudson Komlanc, along with two great-grandsons. He is also survived by two sisters Debbra Lambie of South Bend and Laura (Bob) Koehn of LaPorte, and a brother Adam Wojciechowski of Granger, his mother-in-law Dorothy DeLaurelle of Granger, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Servants at Work, Inc., 8427 Zionsville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268. Please note on your donation that the funds are donated for SAW’s of St. Joseph County, Indiana.
