William “Bill” Miller was a man of extraordinary courage and strength. Living with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD) required him to devise ingenious tactics to navigate the daily challenges of life.
He never surrendered his determination to live a purposeful and meaningful life and through it all he remained optimistic. His life was a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of choosing life, of choosing hope even when life is difficult.
William worked at Zimmer Biomet in Warsaw, Indiana until the age of 70, a reflection of his determination and commitment throughout his life
He also knew how to embrace life’s adventures. He loved his Lichty guitars, he enjoyed driving his Camaro along the Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina and the Blue Ridge Parkway, the wonder of riding in a hot air balloon in Oregon and delighted in the breathtaking beauty of Alaska. He later developed an interest in photography and made many beautiful photographs. He also enjoyed his mules.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Patricia Ide, his children Dana and Evan Miller, his adored grandchildren, Lucy and Simon Yoder, the mother of his children, Jill Matke Miller. He also leaves behind his stepson’s Patrick and Eric Ide, his sister, Sandy Ignafol, and his brother and sister-in-law, James Zultanski and Judy Borysiak.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Miller, and Lois Ignafol, brother Glenn Miller.
Williams’s life was not defined by the difficulties he faced, but by the way he lived in spite of them. He met life with courage, always treating others with kindness, finding joy in adventure, and being grateful for all he had.
He was, in every sense, the epitome of a good man.
He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His courage, human kindness, and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
