Weston George Phipps, age 77, passed away at his home in Mishawaka on August 5, 2025. Weston was born to the late Talbert Woodrow and Elizabeth May (Jones) Phipps in Baltimore, Maryland on March 20, 1948.
Following high school, Weston graduated from Bethel University with his bachelor’s degree. He went on to work for many years in the advertising industry as a talented graphic arts designer and creative writer. He also pursued his passion as a freelance artist, specializing in pencil and pen drawings, oil, and watercolor painting.
On August 30, 1974, Weston married Carol Moody, and they celebrated nearly 51 years of marriage. Carol survives, along with their children, Dawn (Jim) Matheson, John Phipps, and Matt (Stacey) Phipps. He is also survived by his sister Carol Jane Gilpin and five grandchildren: Sarah, Luke, Arianna, and Teddy Matheson, and Jack Phipps. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Wesley Phipps, his sisters Talberta “Pudd” Phipps and Florence “Nick” Jean, and his grandson J.P. Phipps.
Weston was a man of deep faith and lived his beliefs daily. He was a longtime member of the Missionary Church, where he led men’s Bible study groups and devotionals, sharing his love for God and encouraging others in their faith. His family always came first, and his life was a reflection of the love he had for the Lord.
Known for his witty sense of humor and love of clean jokes, especially those of the Marx Brothers, Weston’s sense of humor became a cherished family trait. He and his loved ones often shared “dad jokes” in a lively group chat that brought smiles to everyone.
A celebration of Weston’s life will be held at a later date. Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Mishawaka has been entrusted with his care.
