Rebecca Dale “Becky” Eads, 70, of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, July 19, 2025. She was born on September 22, 1954, in Mishawaka to Emmett and Patsy (Mansel) McKelvey, and later graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1972. She spent 18 years as the Deli Manager at Kroger in Mishawaka before continuing her career as a medical receptionist at Memorial Medical Care (now Beacon Health), where she worked another 18 years until her health no longer allowed her to continue.
Becky was outgoing and she never met a stranger. Her home was always open, especially when her kids were growing up; it became a second home for their friends too. She was active in her children’s lives, supporting her son BJ in sports and serving as a leader in Bluebirds with her daughters. She had a strong faith in the Lord and was a longtime member of Southside General Baptist Church where she used the talent the Lord gave her as a pianist and later attended Cornerstone Church in Mishawaka.
In her free time, Becky enjoyed word search puzzles, soap operas, and cooking shows. She was an avid reader with a special interest in books about medical topics. She was also a die-hard fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Chicago Cubs. And if you knew Becky, you knew she loved her Pepsi and was rarely seen without one in her hand!
On September 23, 2023, Becky married Harry Eads, who survives her. She is also survived by her children: Cynthia Newsom, Jamie (Max) Smith, and William “BJ” Brown Jr.; her stepdaughter Stacy Eads; her sister Sherry (Mitch) Reeves; and the father of her children, William Brown. Becky was a proud grandmother to Desmond Eagan, LeShae Smith, Izayah (Brittany) Newsom, Savannah Newsom, Taylor Jackey, Alyssa Jackey, Brandon Jackey, and Cheyenne Brown, and great-grandmother to Deliah Jackey, Nova Smith, Winston Eby, and Emmett Newsom.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emmett McKelvey and Patsy Cannon, her second husband Bobby Clayton, and her twin granddaughters, Nicole and Christina Jackey.
A celebration of Becky’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home in Mishawaka, with visitation 2 hours prior to her service. Interment will take place later at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
