Nancy Carene Babcock

Nancy C. Babcock, age 81 of Mishawaka, passed away on September 12, 2025, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Nancy was born in Mishawaka on October 12, 1943, to the late Charles and Helen (Gordy) Jones. She was a graduate of Mishawaka High School and worked for many years as a cook at various restaurants in the area before retiring to care for her mother full-time.

Nancy loved to bake for her family and friends. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cross stitching, as well as decorating her home for the holidays. She was an avid reader of mystery books and had a fondness for sharks and watching “Shark Week” on television. She liked shopping, especially for hats, shoes, and purses. She enjoyed visiting Shipshewana, where she spent time at the Blue Gate Restaurant and the local book and craft stores. Nancy also loved spending time with her children, whether at the casino with her daughters or enjoying movie nights at home with her son Andrew.

Nancy is survived by her children Scott (Patricia) Fall of Tennessee, Debbie (Rob) Ellis of Florida, Melinda (Bill) Carter, Carrie (Michael) Green, and Andrew Fall, all of Mishawaka. Surviving as well are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with her siblings Suzie Griffin, Patricia (Dom) Gutierrez and Mark Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Babcock, her daughter, Corene Searer, and her brother, Bob Jones.

There will be no services for Nancy, but the family asks that you remember her with a kind word, a smile, and an act of kindness. Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home of Mishawaka has been entrusted with her care.
