Marilyn Jean Ott, 83, of Mishawaka bravely fought until her passing, Monday, September 22, 2025, at Memorial Hospital. She was born in Benton Harbor, MI, on April 10, 1942, to the late Arnold and Madeline (Miller) Schlender and later married Paul Ott, Jr. on July 7 1962 in Bridgman, MI.
Paul survives along with their sons, Paul Ott (Kathy) III, of Seekonk, MA, and Kevin Ott of Luckey, OH. Two grandchildren, William and Emily Ott, siblings, Louann (Larry) Krieger of Sodus, MI and Lois Jordan of Coloma, MI, and daughter in-law Mary Ott of Cleveland OH, also survive.
Marilyn had a special talent for antique shopping, crafting, and lovingly making infant afghans. She dedicated many years to working in the billing department at Lakeland Hospital until her retirement. Marilyn deeply valued time spent with her family and friends, always bringing warmth and kindness to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A time to visit and celebrate her life is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, from 11-11:30am, at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home, Mishawaka with a service at 11:30. Burial will follow at Porter-Rae Historical Cemetery in Potato Creek State Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hopsital, Center for the Homeless, South Bend, or Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
