Linda Marie Kusz, 65, of Mishawaka, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026, at The Brickyard at Fountainview Living Center. Linda was born May 9, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Anthony and Berit (Tveter) Norborg. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1978, where she was a member of the Pom Pom team. Drawn to caring for others, Linda earned her Registered Nursing degree in 1981 and dedicated 20 years of service to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Hospital. There, she was respected by her coworkers and formed lasting friendships while providing compassionate care to countless families during some of their most vulnerable moments. On July 1, 1996, Linda married Kevin Kusz. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2015.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher (Kathy) Polonka of Fishers, Indiana, and Daniel (Emily McCoy) Polonka of Chicago, Illinois; and her cherished grandchildren, Everett and Ellie Polonka. Also surviving are her siblings, Craig Norborg and Kari (Campbell) Carter; her stepsons, Brandon (fiancé, Kelsey Poinsatte-Jones) Kusz and Robbie (Emily) Kusz; and her uncles, Chris Norborg and Stein Tveter.

Visitation will be held from 10am—12pm Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home in Mishawaka with a celebration of Linda’s life to follow at noon.

Linda was charming, stylish, and genuinely well liked by all who knew her. She had a quick wit and a love for comedy, especially Saturday Night Live, and her sense of humor could light up any room.

From the time she was young, Linda loved music, especially classic rock. The sounds of Pat Benatar, Genesis, and Tom Petty were often part of her daily soundtrack. She also enjoyed gymnastics and carried that same energy and enthusiasm into the way she lived her life.

She was incredibly proud of her sons and delighted in dressing fashionably and taking them shopping when they were young. Linda loved to travel, spending time on the beaches of Mexico and along Lake Michigan. Adventurous and curious, she enjoyed exploring new foods and cultures and sharing those experiences with her boys. Above all else, Linda was a devoted and proud mother, and her love for her family was evident in everything she did.
