Kimberly “Kim” E. Brunner, 55, of Mishawaka, bravely fought a prolonged illness until her rest on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, with family and friends by her side. She was born on Jan. 15, 1970, in South Bend to Edward and Vicki (Lundry) Kurzhal and later married Charles M. Brunner.
Surviving are Kim’s parents, her daughter, Kayla (Austin Ross) Brunner of Mishawaka, a brother, Steven (Kristie) Kurzhal of Elkhart, nephew Ethan and niece Piper Bowlby and besties Herb and Kelly.
Kim served as a dedicated and joyful administrative assistant and lived a life full of creativity and connection. She loved swimming and spending vacations with her family at Gravel Lake in Michigan. In her free time, Kim enjoyed crafting and scrapbooking, often capturing special moments with a thoughtful, artistic touch. As her health challenges progressed, Kim remained resilient. She found peace and clarity through daily meditation and journaling, always striving to focus on the good. Her presence was especially felt during holidays and family gatherings, where her famous mac and cheese was not just a dish; it was a tradition.
A time to celebrate a beautiful life will be Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 3-5pm, with a brief time to share stories and remember Kim beginning at 4:45 at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Joseph County Humane Society or Pet Refuge. To light a virtual candle, share a story of Kim’s life, or extend a message of comfort to her family, please visit the Guestbook.
