Jeremy Robert Kitt

Jeremy Robert Kitt, 33, of Chicago, Illinois, and formerly of Granger, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 30, 2014.

Jeremy was born April 1, 1981 in South Bend. He grew up in Granger and was a graduate of Memorial High School in Elkhart.

Jeremy enjoyed his work as a metal fabricator. He had a great passion and gift for music. Jeremy was talented on the trumpet, electric and acoustic guitar and the bass. Jeremy played in many bands and even traveled throughout Europe. He was a good cook and enjoyed grilling. He is remembered for his giving nature and wanting to help others.

Jeremy married Leslie Halka on May 16, 2009 and she survives. His other surviving family includes two children whom he adored, Nathan and Violet; parents, Terry and Sheila (Maike) Cegielski; sister, Kathryn Sweet; mothers-in-law, Cheri King and Lizette Halka; brother-in-law, William King; sister-in-law, Muriah King; many, many aunts, uncles and cousins; two nephews; and his “family” in his band, “The Run Around”.

Jeremy was preceded in death by his adoptive father, Robert Kitt; natural father, Richard Douglas Anglemyer; and father-in-law, Larry Halka.

Services honoring Jeremy’s life will be held Wednesday, June 4, at 3 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Pastor Mark Waltz leading the service.

Friends may spend time with Jeremy’s family Wednesday from 12 noon - 3 pm in the funeral home.
