Helen Housand, aged 78 passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at Elkhart Meadows. She was born on January 21, 1947 in Altenstadt, Germany at a Displaced Persons Camp. She was born to Michael and Paulina Bronicki. She was a proud, long-time resident of Mishawaka, Indiana until she sadly developed dementia and needed the assistance of nursing homes. She was a 1965 Mishawaka High School graduate. She married Michael Housand on April 27, 1974, in Mishawaka, Indiana at St. Bavo’s Catholic Church. She worked as an administrative assistant for several businesses and retired in 2010. She was proud that she knew shorthand, which made her invaluable to those she worked for. Helen instilled in her children the importance of hard work and continuing their education. She is preceded in death by her son, Aaron Housand, her parents, her brother, George, and her sister, Barbara. She is survived by her husband, Michael, her daughter, Tara (Michael) Love, her grandsons, Cooper, Miles, and Wyatt, her daughter-in-law, Tracy Housand, her granddaughters, Bryanna (Sam) Schaffer and Mykaila Housand. She is also survived by her sister, Sandy (Ed) Kryzynawski and her brother, Mike (Karla) Bronicki.
There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:30 am Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at St. Joseph Church, 226 N Hill St, South Bend, IN 46617 with a private burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Mishawaka at a later date. Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.
