Diane McGaw

C. Diane (MacDonald) McGaw, 88, of South Bend bravely fought until her passing on Friday, October 23, 2026, with family by her side. Diane was born on Nov. 12, 1937, in Ontario, Canada to the late Jack and Kate (MacSween) MacDonald and later married George McGaw on Jan. 14, 1956, who also preceded her in death.

Surviving are their children, Linda (Jim) Middleton of Ft. Wayne, Dorn (Beth) McGaw of Lansing, MI, and Catherine (Jim) Smous of Edwardsburg, MI. Diane’s grandchildren, Heather, and Alec (Mary Kate) Middleton, Kaylei and Kris (Aleksov) McGaw, Darby McGaw, Kaitlyn (Martin) Wieck, Laney (gage) Hudson, Madeline, Samantha (Bryce) Hill, and Luke Smous, and great-grandchildren, Kaladin and Kaiden Aleksov, Ben and Leo Wieck, Jay and Jovi Hudak, Gilbert Samuels, and Brooks Hill also survive.

Diane worked as a clerk in the automotive manufacturing industry for many years before retiring. In her free time, she enjoyed getting lost in a good book, playing cards with friends, and watching her favorite shows on television. She was a sports fan who especially loved cheering on the Detroit Red Wings, and she never missed a chance to enjoy an episode of Jeopardy! Above all, Diane loved her family dearly and treasured the time she shared with them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In accordance with the families wishes, cremation has taken place with a private burial in Canada at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Kincardine ONT Canada Bag Pipe Band, American Diabetes Association, or Christ Child Ministries in honor of Diane.
