Clarence Edwin “Sonny” Moseng, age 85, passed away at his home in Granger on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Sonny was born March 25, 1940, to the late Clarence E. and Eshter (Wetzel) in Neenah, Wisconsin. Following high school, Sonny enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served honorably between the Korean and Vietnam War eras. Following his time in the military, Sonny married Sue Ann Hay in Goshen, Indiana on March 29, 1959. They celebrated over 60 years of marriage before Sue Ann’s passing in August of 2019.
Surviving are his children, Melissa Weissman of Washington, Mitchell (Donna) Moseng and Matthew (JoDee) Moseng, both of Elkhart. Surviving as well are 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and his sister, Annie Rosenberg, along with his brother-in-law, Mark Schrader and his sister-in-law, Darlene Moseng. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard Moseng, his sister, Sally Schrader, and his brother-in-law, Arnie Rosenberg.
A celebration of Sonny’s life will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest in West Goshen Cemetery with Military Honors beside his wife Sue Ann. Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with his care.
Sonny spent several years working as a machinist before starting his own business, Middlebury Septic Service, in 1977. He served the community for more than 20 years, then sold the company and took a job with L.S. Ayres, where he stayed until he retired.
Outside of work, Sonny enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sitting outside, taking in the world around him. He had a deep love for animals and always had a dog by his side. His favorite dog was his loyal companion named Poppy.
